About This Place

Located in the heart of Los Angeles at 4306 N Figueroa St, El Buen Sabor offers an authentic and deeply satisfying Salvadoran dining experience that captures the rich flavors and warmth of Central American cuisine. This beloved local gem specializes in traditional Salvadoran dishes that are crafted with care and bursting with vibrant, comforting flavors.

Step into El Buen Sabor and you’ll immediately sense a cozy, unpretentious atmosphere—the kind where the focus is truly on the food, served fresh and made from time-honored recipes. The aromas of freshly made corn tortillas, smoky grilled meats, and spiced shrimp gently fill the air, teasing your palate with the promise of something unforgettable.

Their pupusas are nothing short of spectacular, a point of unanimous praise among locals and regulars alike. Whether you choose a classic pupusa revuelta or the delicate floral notes of the pupusa de loroco, each bite delivers a perfect harmony of crispy cheese and tender masa, expertly balanced so the cheese crisps without burning. As one delighted customer shared, the pupusas here are “made to perfection,” which perfectly encapsulates the attention to detail in every dish.

Beyond pupusas, the menu boasts a wonderful variety of traditional Salvadoran delights such as curtido—a tangy, fermented cabbage slaw that adds a refreshing crunch to every plate, and hearty options like Parrillada Mixta featuring grilled meats, or the fiery and flavorful Camarones A la Diabla. Each dish is a symphony of textures and flavors, whether it’s the smoky, charred notes in the Carne Asada Plate or the comforting soulfulness of the Super Chicken Soup.

If you enjoy exploring Salvadoran staples beyond the mains, don’t miss the tamales—be it the fried or boiled Tamales de Elote served with luscious sour cream and beans, or the savory Tamal de Chipilin. And to round off your meal, sip on a cup of rich and creamy Café Con Leche, perfectly suited to accompany a leisurely post-meal moment or a casual hangout with friends.

Many diners appreciate El Buen Sabor for its consistently great flavors and approachable prices. While the service is straightforward and no-frills, it reflects a genuine focus on delivering quality food above all else. Some loyal patrons note that wait times can be longer during busy hours—especially for takeout orders—but the consensus is that the savory, perfectly prepared dishes are well worth the wait.

Whether you’re craving the comforting crunch of a handmade pupusa, the bold zest of shrimp rancheros, or a hearty plate of machaca con huevo, El Buen Sabor offers a genuinely satisfying Salvadoran culinary journey that invites you to savor bold flavors in a welcoming neighborhood setting. It’s a culinary hideaway for those who cherish authentic, richly textured dishes that speak to the soul.

The pupusas were amazing and the girl who helped us was polite and super nice. They made them to perfection where the cheese was crispy but not burnt.

Have been coming to this Salvadoran place for a couple of years now. The food is always great and tasty. With that being said, be prepared to wait more than the estimated time of food being ready, especially for pick up orders. They say 15 -20 minutes, and it is usually 40 min wait .

My favorite spot in LA to get pupusas thus far. Consistently perfect quality and taste and I’ve been ordering here for two years. Very reasonable prices for pupusas. Not the nicest customer service but that’s how you know the food will be good. I always get pupusas revuelta and pupusas con loroco. I wish they stayed open later than 8 pm, they’re often closed by the time I am looking to order food. Hardly any parking though.
